Adolescents
Adolescents face unique and real stressors: school, friends, changing family dynamics, bullying, loss all in a world that looks really different than it did when the parents were kids.
We help adolescents with a variety of issues:
-
Anxiety
-
Depression
-
Family Relationships
-
Friend Relationships
-
Divorce/separation
-
Blended family issues
-
High expectations/"Perfectionism"
-
Coping skills
There is not a one size fits all to working with teenagers and you and the therapist will collaborate on the plan that fits your teen best. Initially, we like to meet with the parent(s) and adolescent for at least part of the first session to share about what therapy looks like and confidentiality so everybody is on the same page. Then, it is a mix of meeting with the child solo, parent sessions and potentially everyone together. This is dictated by what issue your teen is bringing in, how the parents can support the teen and severity of issue.
